Gamma Phi Beta (or ΓΦB or Gamma Phi) is a social sorority which falls under the governance of PHC. One of their annual traditions is their moonball sand volleyball tournament between fraternities and sororities, with the final games going on into the night, and with the winning fraternity and sorority competing in a final game.
Gamma Phi Beta won the 2012 women's league for intramural softball and the 2010 Watermelon Bash. ΓΦB's Kaitlin McGaughey and Lauren Lopez were finalists for Ms. UTSA 2010 and 2015, respectively.
One of Gamma Phi's big philanthropy events every year is its Moonball Volleyball Tournament. Fraternities and sororities are invited to enter teams, with the winning fraternity and winning sorority playing each other for the overall championship. In the past, it has been played at the UT Health Science Center's beach volleyball courts.
A chapter's GEAR rating factors in categories of scholarship, education, service, and involvement. The overall score is rated either gold, silver, bronze, satisfactory, or below satisfactory. The score ranges have been adjusted slightly over time, with the maximum possible currently at 397.
