Chisholm Hall is the first on-campus housing to have been built at UTSA. It opened in 1986 and features what were at one point the largest dorm rooms in Texas. It's four floors tall with four stairwells and a lobby in the middle of the first floor and totals 261 rooms. The rooms are 365 sq. ft. and are for either one people or two (with doubles having two sinks) and include private restrooms rather than community restrooms. It is divided into 11 "wings", each with its own resident assistant.
Historically, Chisholm Hall was connected to the Learning Communities program, with the participants living on the same floor in addition to having some of the same classes. Chisholm has often had an international student wing, a quiet floor, and two all-female wings. Chisholm is co-ed, meaning that a men's room can be right next to or across from a women's room.
Next to Chisholm Hall is the Activity Center which includes a theater, vending, sports tables, the frojy desk, maintenance offices, mailboxes, a small computer lab, and a junior Olympic sized lap pool. Members of the general public may subscribe to a pool membership to swim at the Activity Center.
