Chaparral Village is a residence hall that opened in 2004 that is owned and operated by UTSA directly, in contrast to next-door neighbor Chisholm Hall and University Oaks, which are on-campus housing owned and operated by Campus Living Villages. It has a "city center" which includes a computer lab and housing office and it has 4 "neighborhood centers" with televisions, laundry facilities, and gaming tables.

Rooms are arranged like apartments, with separate bedrooms with card-access doors, but due to lacking an oven and stove it can technically be labeled as a "dorm."
